Irene Buck holds international certification in Instructional Skills Workshop (ISW) facilitation. The workshops are designed for both new and experienced instructors. Offered in a small group setting, the workshops are normally three to four days in length. They are collaborative and participatory in nature and provide the participants with an opporturnity to create and instruct three "mini-lessons". Verbal and written feedback is provided. All the sessions are videotaped in order to facilitate feedback and enable participants to review their teaching style.
During the workshop participants learn about adult learning theory, learning styles, writing learning objectives, developing a lesson plan, strategies for eliciting learner participation, tips on evaluating how much learning has taken place and providing effective feedback. The interaction between learners, and the self-discovery that takes place, is the basis of a dynamic learning experience. The valuable instructional skills, honed during the workshop, are useful in a number of, whether you're in the classroom or on the podium.
